James D. Lehmann, M.D.
A native of Seguin, Dr. Lehmann attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated cum laude with a degree from the Plan II Honors program. After completion of his medical degree at San Antonio’s UT Health Science Center, he began Ophthalmology Residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he spent three years of research and training.
Upon graduation from UT Southwestern, Dr. Lehmann spent a year working with ORBIS International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing blindness worldwide. He worked in Asia, Africa, and South America training eye surgeons in modern, microsurgical techniques.
In 2006, Dr. Lehmann returned to UT Southwestern at Dallas and completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery.
He returns to San Antonio with an array of clinical, surgical, and cultural experiences. Dr. Lehmann is fluent in Spanish, and his additional accomplishments include:
§ Dr. Lehmann and his associates, Drs. Robert Snip and Kenneth Maverick have been selected by NuVision to act as the exclusive providers for all refractive surgery, including LASIK, PRK, and cataract surgery.
§ Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology
§ Consultant at St. John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem, where he performed cataract and anterior segment surgery on the indigenous peoples.
§ Author of peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmic journals.
§ Licensed physician in Spain and European Union
§ Surgical experience with the Boston Keratoprosthesis and Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty
